A hackathon is an event where community members come together to learn new skills, build innovative projects, and share ideas. It's a great opportunity for collaboration, creativity, and skill development.
Location: Pimpri Chinchwad Science Park Near Auto Cluster Chinchwad, Pune- 411019
Date of Weather Hackathon: Feb 27, 2026
Time: 9:30 am to 5:00 pm
Who Can Participate?
Target Audience: Teachers/Educators/ATL mentors and students of all levels (Primary, Secondary, and Higher Education)
Individual or Group Participation: Participants can join individually or in groups of up to 5 members. Teams can collaborate on a common task or activity or choose different aspects of teaching innovation.
Eligibility: Open to science educators/teachers and students from all fields (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Earth Science, etc.). No prior technical expertise is required, but a passion for innovative teaching is essential!
Key highlights:
Basic Tinkering Materials—Teams will be given basic lab equipment and materials (e.g., MDF sheets, basic hardware tools, basic stationery, electronics components, etc.).
Technology Access—Tools like online simulations, access to educational software, and virtual tools (if required).
Mentorship Support—Experienced teachers and education professionals will be available for advice and guidance throughout the hackathon.
Workshops—short sessions on incorporating technology in classrooms, gamification in education, and best teaching practices.
Lesson Plan Template—A structured template to guide the creation of lesson plans for Educators/ATL mentors
Microweather Station Tinkering Hackathon Guide
The Microweather Station Tinkering Hackathon is an engaging event for teachers, school students, and educators to explore electronics, coding, and environmental science by building their own microweather station. Participants will design, assemble, and program devices that measure and communicate real-time weather data.
Through experimentation and collaboration, participants will:
Develop technical and problem-solving skills
Learn about sensors, microcontrollers, and data analysis
Understand weather monitoring and environmental awareness
Think creatively and work like young innovators contributing to India’s scientific growth
Microweather Station Hackathon Rules
1. Build & Innovate – Project Stages
🔹 Stage 1 – Build the Microweather Station
Create a working microweather station using Arduino and the provided sensors.
Display real-time weather data on the provided LCD screen.
🔹 Stage 2 – Wireless Communication
Use ESP32 to transmit weather data wirelessly to a mobile phone or computer.
🔹 Stage 3 – Data Processing & Visualization
Process collected data using ESP32.
Plot graphs and visualize weather parameters such as temperature, humidity, etc.
About ThingSpeak
ThingSpeak is an IoT analytics platform service that allows you to aggregate, visualize, and analyze live data streams in the cloud. You can send data to ThingSpeak from your devices, create instant visualization of live data, and send alerts.
During the hackathon, participants will integrate their micro weather station with the ThingSpeak IoT platform to transmit and visualize real-time environmental data. Teams will configure sensors, write basic code, and establish cloud connectivity to monitor parameters such as temperature, humidity, and other atmospheric conditions.

Using live data dashboards and graphical analysis, participants will interpret trends, troubleshoot performance issues, and optimize their system for accuracy and reliability. Teams will be evaluated on successful data transmission, proper sensor integration, innovation in design, coding efficiency, teamwork, and their ability to explain the scientific principles behind their model.
By combining hardware, coding, and data analytics, participants will demonstrate practical application of STEM concepts and compete to deliver the most efficient, accurate, and innovative micro weather monitoring solution.
